Ranges from Port Nolloth to Cape Point (common); records from the eastern Cape and Natal need verification (Ref. 5578). Caught by anglers but not considered a game fish (Ref. 12484). Taken by commercial trawlers and its flesh is utilized for human consumption, liver for vit. A and fins for sharkfin soup (Ref. 12484). Also Ref. 6577.
